Foundations school building

Welcome to the second year of Foundations, an e-newsletter focused on keeping our community updated on current and past levy and bond initiatives and how their tax dollars are supporting student learning and achievement, while keeping our school buildings modernized and maintained. Follow along in the spirit of learning every month for a new edition.

Capital Projects Update

Our district is committed to fostering transparency and accountability in every aspect of our work, ensuring trust and open communication with our community. To keep our community informed, below are a few photos from recently completed capital projects supported by voter-approved funds.

The Kent School District continues to plan and prioritize the projects included in the 2024 Capital Projects & Technology Levy. These levy funds will address critical needs to ensure safe and operational school buildings while enhancing technology infrastructure to better prepare students for future careers. The Capital Projects team is actively developing the timeline and determining specific project priorities. Once again, we thank our voters for approving these funds to support our students and staff!

Carriage Crest Parking Lot

KSD recently completed the Carriage Crest Revision to Parking Lot Project from the 2016 Bond. This work included widening the entrance drive to accommodate left and right turn exit lanes, new curbing where needed, asphalt repairs, sealcoating, and striping. Thank you to our voters for their continuing support of our schools and recognizing well-maintained facilities benefit our greater community.

Transportation Recognition

Our bus drivers were celebrated and recognized for their years of safe driving at the Bus Driver Luncheon in January. Drivers received recognition ranging from 1 year to 32 years. Rena Croppi was recognized for 32 years of safe driving. We thank Propel Insurance for donating the funds to cover the cost of the luncheon.
