Foundations school building

Welcome to Foundations, an e-newsletter focused on keeping our community updated on current and past levy and bond initiatives supported by voter-approved funds. When we come together with a shared commitment as OneCommunity to educate and support our students, we continue to build on a foundation that extends beyond the classroom and strengthens the entire community--united into OneKSD.

There is a gap between what the state funds and the education Kent School District provides to students. Local levy funds make up the difference. Levy dollars support student enrichment programs not fully funded by the state, such as special education, athletics, arts, and music to name a few.

We are committed to fostering transparency and accountability in every aspect of our work, ensuring trust and open communication. Follow along very month for a new edition.

National Banner School

We are proud to share that Kentwood High School has been recognized as a National Banner School by Special Olympics for its outstanding Unified Sports program. This national honor celebrates schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion through sports, leadership, and school engagement. This recognition reflects the heart of who we are as OneTeam, OneKSD.

A Night of Harmony

The Kentwood (KW) High School Orchestra recently hosted a special mini concert, featuring performances by students from both Meridian and Mattson middle school orchestras. The event offered a glimpse into the future of this music program, as aspiring young musicians took the stage alongside their high school counterparts. In addition to the impressive middle school showcases, the KW Orchestra performed select pieces of their own, giving the audience a preview of the talent and dedication that define the program. The concert celebrated the strong musical bond between the high school and middle schools, fostering collaboration, building community, and inspiring the next generation of musicians. This event was a shining example of the unity and support found throughout OneKSD.
