Dear Kent School District Community,

As we begin a new year, I want to assure our students, families, and staff that students are at the center of everything we do. We prioritize their safety, well-being, and education. By working together with families, educators, and the broader community, we will keep the focus on our students and schools. Our goal is for every child to walk through our doors feeling valued and respected. As we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day earlier this week, we are reminded of Dr. King's words: "The time is always right to do what is right."

We are committed to providing resources and guidance for both our families and staff to help in these challenging circumstances. To affirm this commitment, please review my message from early December. For additional information, visit Family Support Services. Together, we will diligently work to ensure the safety of our students.

This month, Kent School District celebrates School Board Appreciation Month! Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the school board members for their unwavering dedication and service to the community's schools. Their commitment to vision, structure, advocacy, and accountability has been instrumental in shaping the futures of our students and ensuring a high-quality education for all. On behalf of our students and staff, I thank our school board members for their dedication, and for striving to put students first. Their leadership and support are invaluable, and we are truly grateful for all they do.

I am incredibly grateful to our amazing students and staff who went above and beyond to prepare and create posters and cards for our school board members. Their creativity and thoughtful gestures have made a lasting impact. Thank you to our students and staff for helping us show our appreciation in such a meaningful way!

January is National Mentoring Month, and I extend my gratitude to the incredible community-based organizations and community members who support our students. Your mentorship efforts significantly impact the future of our young learners, playing a crucial role in their development and success. Let's celebrate the amazing mentors who inspire, guide, and empower our students every day.

We are OneClass, OneTeam, OneCommunity, united in OneKSD. We take pride in celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures and diversity within our community. By fostering collaboration, we continue to build a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and embraced. Together, we ensure our schools and programs not only reflect our diverse strengths, but also our collective dedication to uplifting and supporting each other.

Kent School District Unites for Annual Food Drive to Help Families Thrive

The Kent School District came together in a heartwarming effort to support local children and families through our annual Food Drive. Students and staff across the district generously donated food items, showcasing the true spirit of community and compassion. Our dedicated Distribution Services Team picked up these donations and delivered them to the Kent Food Bank, where they will make a significant difference for those in need. This collective effort not only provides essential support to local families but also teaches our students the importance of giving back and working together for a greater cause.

A special thank you to the Kent Food Bank for their unwavering efforts to help feed our community. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated!
