Principal's Message

Hello Meeker Families,

We are thrilled to welcome you to a brand new school year! We hope your summer was filled with fun, relaxation, and time with family and friends. As we prepare to kick off an exciting new chapter, we’re energized and ready to support our students through a year of learning, growth, and discovery.

Middle school is such an important time—a place where students deepen their curiosity, build strong friendships, and develop the skills and confidence that will carry them forward. Our dedicated staff is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for every student.

As we begin the year, we encourage families to stay connected and involved. Whether it’s through school events, volunteering, or simply checking in with your child each day, your partnership makes a huge difference.

Let’s make this year one to remember! We’re excited to learn, grow, and achieve great things—together.

ATHLETICS

**Students must complete a current Participation History and Physical Examination form before participating in athletics. Physicals are valid for 24 months from the date of examination and may not expire during the season in which the student is participating.

Middle School: A current physical examination must be completed prior to participation in sports and must be completed by a doctor after June 1, 2025. Physicals for middle school are valid for the current school for two years.

Online Registration:

Kent School District Athletics and Activities Department is partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic/activity participation forms for your students. FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time.

High School and Middle School athletic registration is open NOW!

Families that have email addresses in Qmlativ received an email notification on July 30, 2025 with a personalized link to confirm their FinalForms account. Please check your inbox (and spam folders). FinalForms will also be used for clubs and field trips. Timely completion of these forms is essential for student eligibility in extracurricular activities. https://kent-wa.finalforms.com

COUNSELING CORNER

Student Schedules:

Student schedules will be printed and available for pick up during the Welcome Back Days and also before students arrive on the first day of school, 6th grade on stage in cafeteria, 7th and 8th grade out front of main office. Students may also view their schedule in Qmlativ Skyward.

Please note that we will process schedule corrections if there is an inappropriate academic placement, a repeat of the same class. (Example: 2 English classes), a gap or missing period in their schedule or there is a current health issue that requires a change in schedule. Schedule correction request forms will be available in their 1st period class, counseling office, or main office. Schedule correction forms should be returned to the main office.

We anticipate changes in student schedules to occur as well. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Schedule changes may occur because we have a higher enrollment than projected and need to confirm attendance of students. Attendance is an important part of school. Please contact MKAttendance@kent.k12.wa.us if your student will be absent. Schedule changes will help balance class sizes and potential of adding more classes in compliance with Kent School District policies and Kent Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Transportation

Bus Passes: All students eligible for transportation will entered in Skyward/Qmlativ. Information on how to access will be provided as soon as it is available. Gold bus passes should arrive in your home by 8/22. Students enrolling or changing addresses after 6/26/25 and eligible for transportation will need to have a red bus pass issued by the school office.

This will be their bus pass until they receive their permanent picture ID/ASB card from school on Monday, September 9th.  All students are required to show school ID cards with assigned route number whenever boarding a KSD school bus.  Students will not be allowed to ride a bus other than their assigned bus nor get off at a different stop unless parents get a pre-authorization by Transportation (253-373-7442) for a confirmed family emergency. Students who lose their ID card may request a temporary bus pass from the Main Office during lunch only.  Students must purchase another ID card for $5.00 within 5 days of losing their card, from the Cashiers Office before school and during lunches.  After school is not an appropriate time to obtain a temporary pass as busses leave promptly after school and students may be to late to ride. Please use lunch time to get a temporary pass.

Parent Notification Requirement: If your child is the only student picked up at a stop location (single stop), it is very important that you contact Transportation at 253-373-7444 if your child is staying home from school that day.  If the driver comes by three (3) days in a row and the student is not there, the driver will not return until you have notified us to resume transportation.

SPACE AVAILABLE BUS REQUEST LIST – Please direct all callers to the KSD Webpage/Services/Transportation/Bus Passes & Guidelines/Apply for Space Available Bus Pass. The Space Available application opens on August 25, 2025, at 8:00 A.M. There is NO guarantee that a pass will be issued.
