PIONEER NEWS December 2024

Principal's Message

Hello Meeker Families,

Thank you, all the families that attended secondary conferences.  We had an excellent turnout. I encourage you to continue to keep the lines of communication open with all teachers. Please, check your child’s grades regularly in Qmlativ and contact your child’s teachers often regarding any concerns or questions. We appreciate your support and partnership with your student’s success.

We are thankful for the opportunity to provide learning for our students and helping them navigate this time of their lives. We are thankful for the support families provide to their kids, as well as the staff. We encourage you to find a moment to pause and consider the small wins that have happened this year.

As winter break approaches, we would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday break.  We hope you have an opportunity to relax, reconnect with your friends and family and look forward to seeing our students back on January 6, 2024.

Make it a great day!

Bree Devlin

Meeker Principal

reading

Meeker has identified reading instructional texts (ex: biographies, science books, how-to manuals, etc.) as an area of focus for our students. Before winter break, encourage your student to check out a book from the library on a subject that interests them. We have a wide selection to choose from, as does the King County Library System. Hopefully over the break, your student will have a great new book that they can’t wait to read!

counselor

Dear Parents,

As we move past the first quarter, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Thanksgiving break, it’s time to refocus and maintain the routines that support student success. This transitional period is critical in ensuring a strong finish to the first semester and preparing for the second.

Taking just 30 minutes each day to sit with your middle schooler to discuss their day, review homework, and plan for upcoming assignments can make a significant difference. This daily check-in provides both academic and emotional support, which is especially important at this stage of their development.

The first semester will end on January 28, 2025. Please encourage your student to stay on top of their assignments so they can achieve their academic goals. Establishing and maintaining consistent routines at home can greatly contribute to their success.

At Meeker, we offer several resources to support students:

  • After School Academic Support

  • After School All Stars Program

Additionally, if your family needs assistance during the holiday season, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

For academic, social, or emotional support, your student’s counselor is available to help. We are here to work together to ensure every student thrives.

Thank you for your partnership in your student’s success.

Sincerely,
