PIONEER NEWS February 2025

Principal's Message

Hello Meeker Families,

At Meeker we have established believe statements that ground our work and core values.

We believe:

  • The Meeker community consists of students, staff, families, and community partners. We are strongest when we work together.

  • The Meeker community fosters a positive learning environment for all by being safe, acting responsibly, and respecting self and others.

  • All students and staff are unique learners who deserve access to equitable resources and the support needed for their education.

We have several community partnerships, After-School All-Stars, Communities in Schools, International Rescue Committee, Kent Youth and Family Services, and Hazel Health. We are working on increasing our connection with families through teachers using Rooms within the Kent School District app to share information about the class and communication. (Search for “Kent School District” in the AppStore or Google Play to download free.) We are excited about the different features of the Rooms application such as announcements, text messages, and translation in over 55 different languages. Meeker is a title one school and hosts family engagement events to support our school improvement goals. We will soon be rescheduling our Math Game Night which was canceled due to the snow. More upcoming events will be a reading challenge, science night, iReady growth social, and more.

On Thursday, February 27, please join me for Popcorn with the Principal. I will be popping popcorn and watching a movie starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Meeker Cafeteria. The purpose is to create a social environment for families, community, and students to chat or just hang out with the principal and enjoy the time. You can come and watch the entire movie with me or just stop by to say hello or ask questions. I encourage you to bring your camping chairs.

Make it a great day!

Bree Devlin, Meeker Principal
