Ridgewood Elementary
February 2026

Dear Ridgewood Families,

This week we celebrated the 100th day of school! It’s hard to believe that 100 days have passed since our first day together in August. We are incredibly proud of the progress of each of our students and look forward to sharing their accomplishments with you at the next round of Conferences on February 9-13. If you haven’t scheduled your conference yet, please visit this link to select a time with your teacher (Ridgewood Conference Bookings). The meetings are only 20 minutes long, so your punctuality is appreciated. Our teachers have lots to share with you. Report cards are now available to review on the Skyward Family Access site.

Thank you to those of you who attended our first Coffee with Principal event in January. I enjoyed connecting and collaborating with you all. Please keep an eye out for the date of the next Coffee with Principal event later in the year.

February is a busy month with many changes to our schedules. While we acknowledge that these changes can be a challenge, I encourage you to continue to prioritize attendance with your student. Even on early release days, teachers will be covering curriculum, and our students will be carrying on with their important learning.

Thank you for your continued support and important partnership.

Sincerely,
Ms. Julie McBride

New Books: Thank You!

Thanks to a grant from the Kent Schools Foundation and our wonderful PTA, we’ve been able to add many new books to our library this year! We are so grateful to our families for supporting our Scholastic Book Fairs - each purchase helps build a Scholastic balance that allows us to buy new books for our school library and classrooms.

Building Positive Behaviors

DID YOU KNOW?

In our September 2025 family newsletter, the following piece of information was shared:

One way to get your student’s school year started in a positive way is to ask them daily what went well! Get them thinking about all the great things that took place during their day, and what they can look forward to the next day.

As we begin the second semester of the school year and prepare for family conferences, now is a great time to talk with your child(ren) about what is going well! Ask them what they are proud of so far this year, ask them what they want to accomplish or achieve before the end of the year and talk to them about their favorite part of their day. Ask them who was kind to them during the day, or who they were kind to during the day. Staying connected and reinforcing that we are all a team supporting each and every child at Ridgewood is an essential component of student success. In preparation for and in reflection after family conferences, we encourage students and families to focus on the positive because there is much to celebrate!
