Hello Sawyer Woods Families,
We are excited to share some wonderful updates and upcoming events with you!
🌍 Multi-Cultural Night Success! Our first-ever Multi-Cultural Night was an amazing success! A special thank you to Ms. Bird for organizing the team that brought this event to life. The variety of performances from our community made for a truly great time!
🛍️ Makers Market One of my favorite events, our third-ever Makers Market, is just around the corner! Join us on Tuesday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM to explore and purchase unique items crafted by our talented students. EJ's Catering will be on-site offering delicious food for purchase. Please remember, this is a cash-only event, though some booths may accept Venmo.
🎓 Kindergarten Orientation For families with future Kindergarten students, we invite you to our annual Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, May 21st, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 5:15 PM for check-in. We look forward to welcoming our new students and families!
📚 Smarter Balanced Assessment Next week, we will complete the ELA portion of the Smarter Balanced Assessment and begin the math section. We encourage everyone to maintain positive habits to help our students perform their best each day!
🏆 Recognition for Achievement We are thrilled to announce that Sawyer Woods Elementary has been recognized in the OSPI Washington School Recognition program for our remarkable performance during the 2024-2025 school year! 🎉 This honor highlights our growth in supporting students that qualify as low income, placing us among only 16% of schools statewide to receive this recognition.
As part of this achievement, we will receive a banner to celebrate our success. This is a proud moment for our entire community, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your continued support in helping our students thrive.
❤️ Teacher Appreciation Week On behalf of all the Sawyer Woods staff, I would like to express our gratitude to all of our families for the love and appreciation shown during Teacher Appreciation Week. We do this work because we care about the growth of the next generation, and it feels wonderful to be recognized!
Thank you for being an integral part of the Sawyer Woods community!
Best,
Principal Koch
