Track and Field 2025

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is time to form our 2025 Sawyer Woods Track Team. Organized through Kent Parks and Recreation, track is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Track is a great opportunity for students to work on their fitness, compete with other schools, and to build friendships while representing Sawyer Woods. Your child has expressed an interest in joining this team. Along with this letter, you should have been given a registration form and a participation agreement. Before filling out the registration form, please read and understand the entirety of this letter and the participation agreement. Students joining the track team are making a season-long commitment to trying their best.

There will be five weekly track meets, which will be held at Wilson Playfields, starting at 4:10 and lasting until about 6:30 p.m. Track meets will begin the week of March 24, and will be held mainly on Mondays, with possibly one or two exceptions. The season will conclude with the Junior Olympics, on Saturday, May 10, at French Field. There will not be a meet or practices during spring break. Track events include the softball throw, running long jump, 75-yard dash, 300-yard shuttle relay, and the 600-yard run.

In order to participate in the track meets, members must attend practices that will be held after school (see schedule below). Coaches will determine the students’ participation in track meets and their placement in events. Participation in practices, attitude, skill, academic performance, and citizenship during the track season will be considered in each decision. Please see the student/parent participation agreement for additional information on track team expectations.

Parents are responsible for transportation to/from all practices/meets. Thank you in advance for being on time to pick up your student; It is appreciated. Siblings and friends may not stay and watch practices unless supervised by an adult. Parents are also responsible for their child’s behavior at track meets.

The track registration fee is $60, with checks made payable to Kent Parks and Recreation. Please return the registration form and payment to Sawyer Woods or to Kent Parks by Friday, February 14th. Late registrations will be accepted up until the third practice, but participants will not have their shirts ordered in time to receive them for the first track meet. The participation agreement should be returned to Mr. Rademacher or Mrs. Welch at Sawyer Woods. If you need financial assistance, please contact Mr. Rademacher or Mrs. Welch to discuss some alternative payment options. If you have any additional questions about the track program at Sawyer Woods, please contact Mr. Rademacher at (253) 373 –3551 or by email at tom.rademacher@kent.k12.wa.us

Sincerely,

Mrs. Welch &

Mr. Rademacher
